Lunar returns: the emotional month in astrology

A lunar return is a chart for the exact moment when the Moon returns to the same degree it held at birth. It happens about once every 27.3 days and describes the emotional weather of the month.

This is not a replacement for the natal chart, transits, or the solar return. A lunar return is a smaller lens. It helps you see where attention, sensitivity, fatigue, care, anxiety, and daily rhythm will gather during the coming month.

Start with the Moon

The Moon is the center of the lunar return. Look at its house, sign, and aspects. The house shows the life area that will feel most alive emotionally. The sign describes the style of reaction. Aspects show what supports or irritates the month.

If the lunar Moon falls in the fourth house, home, family, privacy, and inner security move forward. In the tenth house, emotional attention can turn toward work, visibility, responsibility, or the need to be recognized. In the sixth house, the body, routine, sleep, health, and workload ask for care.

The Ascendant of the lunar return

The Ascendant shows how the month begins and what role the person seems to take. A fire Ascendant can bring speed and directness. An earth Ascendant asks for practical handling. An air Ascendant highlights contact and information. A water Ascendant makes the month more receptive and private.

Planets near the Ascendant are especially noticeable. Mars can make the month sharper and more active. Venus softens the tone and brings relationships, aesthetics, or pleasure closer to the surface. Saturn asks for discipline, limits, and realistic pacing.

Do not overstate the chart
