Solar arc rectification: using one degree per year

Solar arcs are a forecasting and rectification technique based on a simple symbolic movement: every point in the chart moves approximately one degree for each year of life.

Because the method is clean and slow, it is useful for rectification. If the birth time changes, the angles change. Solar arc contacts to those angles can then be tested against dated events.

What to check

In rectification, astrologers look for solar arc planets contacting the Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven, and IC. They also watch contacts to rulers of important houses.

The strongest contacts often involve the Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto touching an angle or a key natal planet. The event should fit the symbolism and the life context.

Example

Suppose a person received a public leadership role at age 38. In one candidate birth time, solar arc Jupiter reaches the Midheaven that year. Jupiter can describe growth, recognition, and wider social space; the Midheaven describes career and public direction. That chart becomes more plausible.

In a nearby birth time, the contact may happen a year earlier or later and no longer matches the event. This is why a few minutes can matter.

Do not use only the Midheaven

Solar arc rectification is strongest when it checks the whole chart. Career events may involve the Midheaven, but relocation can involve the IC, relationships the Descendant, and health or daily work the sixth-house ruler.

The correct time should not win by one attractive example. It should explain a pattern.
