Houses in synastry: where another person enters your life

Synastry is not only about aspects between planets. House overlays show where another person's planets land in your chart and which areas of life they awaken.

This is why the same Venus contact can feel different in two relationships. Venus in your fifth house may feel playful and romantic. Venus in your eighth house may feel magnetic, private, and harder to keep light.

The relationship houses

The fifth house shows romance, pleasure, play, creativity, and the feeling of being seen as desirable. Planets there can bring flirtation, ease, and excitement.

The seventh house shows partnership, projection, agreement, and the visible "other." Planets there can make the person feel like a partner, mirror, or necessary counterpart.

The eighth house brings intimacy, trust, fear, shared resources, jealousy, vulnerability, and deep attachment. It can be powerful, but it needs care.

Other important houses

The fourth house can feel familiar and private, as if the person enters the emotional home. The tenth house can affect status, career, and public direction. The eleventh house can make the relationship grow through friendship, networks, and shared plans.

House overlays do not decide whether a relationship succeeds. They show what room of your life the other person opens.
