Transits, progressions, solar returns, and lunar returns

A short map of forecasting methods: what describes the current day, month, year, and inner stage.

Different scales of time

Transits show which current planets are activating your natal chart. They are useful for current background and near-term themes.

A solar return describes the year from birthday to birthday, a lunar return describes the month, and progressions show a slower inner layer of development.

How not to get lost

One method rarely answers every question. First define the scale: day, month, year, or life stage.

In Nocturna you can ask about a period in plain language, and the bot will choose the relevant astrological context.

Choosing the method

For the next week or an event background, start with transits. For a month and emotional rhythm, use a lunar return. For a personal year, use a solar return. For inner maturation and long transitions, use progressions.

The methods do not compete. They answer different time scales. Problems start when a solar return is used to explain Tuesday's mood or one day's transit is used to define a whole life phase.

Forecasts are not verdicts

An astrological forecast is best read as a map of attention. It shows which themes get louder, where old patterns may repeat, and where a different action becomes possible.

Even a tense period does not have to be bad. It can be productive, honest, disciplined, or liberating when its repeating task is understood.
